Trees on Hills

In essence, these photographs are portraits. They are portraits of trees, as opposed to people. I love this subject, perhaps because the natural scenery where I live in the coastal ranges of northern California is dominated by beautiful old trees on rolling hills. My favorite trees to photograph are the giant ancient oaks, keeping watch as lonely hilltop sentinels, deeply etched and gnarled by the passage of time.
