Valley View, Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park, CA, 5/30/2009
Seeing dramatic clouds to the east shortly after dawn, I prepared my camera at Valley View this spring morning in Yosemite. Valley View or Gates of the Valley is the last pullout from westbound Northside Drive that offers a grand view of Yosemite Valley and the Merced River. I was hoping for a colorful sky and was disappointed with the way the sunrise unfolded until these sunbeams or crepuscular rays suddenly appeared! Sunrise is a wonderful time to explore Yosemite Valley in peace, quiet, and solitude.
