Vista Point, Skyline Boulevard, Coal Creek Open Space Preserve, San Mateo County, CA, 8/29/2014
After making some late afternoon photographs at the south end of Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve in California's coastal Santa Cruz Mountains, I drove to the north end to catch the sunset. Immediately upon parking at the vista point on Skyline Boulevard I observed the sky northeast over Silicon Valley was filled with colorful clouds. This sunset faded fast; a minute later most of the red coloration had vanished. On the distant horizon at far left is Mt. Diablo, then Sunol Peak to the right, and Mission Peak is at center.
