Yerba Buena Trail, Joseph D. Grant County Park, Santa Clara County, CA, 10/4/2008
This is one of two similar photographs I made on this early autumn day at Joseph D. Grant County Park. At this time of year, the grasses there are completely dead and brown. I spotted this oak from the Yerba Buena Trail, and was struck by how nicely the side-lighting set it off from the hills and mountain in the background. The clouds were dramatic that day, and by this time were taking on the colors of late afternoon. Although the 9,560 acre Joseph D. Grant County Park is located just east of San Jose, CA, it is a world away in terms of open space and quiet.
