Two Old Friends

Washburn Trail, Joseph D. Grant County Park, Santa Clara County, CA, 1/26/2009

This area by the Washburn Trail of Joseph D. Grant County Park in Santa Clara County, CA has several hills with great views into the rest of Halls Valley. I had photographed the more distant oak seen here before, but had not discovered this composition until this day. Here we see these two old oak trees sharing their hill and living together in Halls Valley like old friends. Joseph D. Grant Park is one of my favorite places to spend an afternoon in the San Francisco Bay area. It abounds with beautiful pastoral scenes like this where ancient trees stand guard atop hills with valley and mountain views. When I visit the park - especially on week days - I often have its 9,560 quiet and beautiful acres completely to myself, and I feel free to enjoy and explore to my heart's content. I find this amazing because the park is just a short drive from all the crowding and activity of San Jose - the second most populous city of our most populous state!
