Old Oak at Twilight

Ravensbury Trail & Rogue Valley Trail, Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve, Santa Clara County, CA, 11/18/2015

A massive oak stands at the intersection of two trails in one of my favorite parks. After admiring it for years, I decided finally to photograph this stately old tree at twilight in autumn when the sky and nearby shrubs were at their colorful best. The soft evening light provided ideal illumination for this simple country scene. Each day hundreds of people walk and run along Ravensbury Trail through this Rogue Valley landscape, yet I never see any of them stop to admire the beauty here. Perhaps this just indicates that we live in a world so abundant that we can never fully appreciate all its wonders.
